TREES BY JAKE Serves the Greater Tulsa, OK Area

  • Is TREES BY JAKE insured?

Yes. TREES BY JAKE is fully insured for both liability and workers’ compensation. Having both types of insurance protects the homeowner if something were to happen while working at your property. Liability insurance provides coverage in the event of property damage and workers’ compensation insurance covers medical costs and wage replacement of employees if they’re injured. Be cautious of tree services that cannot verify workers’ compensation coverage. A Certificate of Insurance should come directly from an agent to verify that the policy is currently in place. We will be glad to provide a Certificate upon request.

  • Why is it important to hire an ISA Certified Arborist?

Hiring an ISA Certified Arborist ensures that your trees are in the best hands possible. As Tulsa Certified Arborists, our estimators have achieved an expert level of knowledge in the art and science of tree care though extensive experience and a comprehensive examination. They can identify and diagnose potential issues or problems that may compromise the health or safety of a tree. Becoming a Certified Arborist is a voluntary process that demonstrates an individual’s commitment to the tree care industry. The International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) is the only organization that can designate the Certified Arborist credential and it is possible to verify credentials.

  • How much does tree removal and tree trimming cost?

The cost of emergency tree service, tree removal, and tree trimming depends on a variety of factors, including the size, health, and location of the tree and the extent of the work completed. It is best to have one of our Tulsa Certified Arborists take a look so that we can provide an accurate estimate.

  • How long does tree trimming/removal typically take?

The time it takes to complete tree work depends on a variety of factors, including the size, health, and location of the tree and the extent of the work completed.

  • Will the equipment that is used damage my yard/landscaping?

The TREES BY JAKE crew always takes extra steps to minimize impact to the surrounding property, including utilizing mats specifically designed for tree work and tree equipment to minimize impact on lawns and landscaping.  Depending on the type of job, we may utilize our Tree-Mek crane which provides for low-impact tree removal as pieces of the tree are hoisted up rather than rigged down.

  • What kind of mess is left behind?

Tree trimming and tree removal can be messy. Oftentimes, there is a lot of brush, debris, and sawdust left behind. The TREES BY JAKE crew leaves each job site in as good a condition, if not better than when we arrived. We take pride in our work and our ultimate goal is client satisfaction.

  • Is it cheaper if I clean up the debris?

Our estimates always include hauling away all the debris and cleanup. However, we do have some customers that prefer to handle the haul away and cleanup themselves to save on cost. If requested, we can provide a bid for tree work that does not include haul away and cleanup.

  • I don’t think that a bucket truck can get to my tree. Can the tree still be trimmed/removed?

Yes. If the tree is not accessible with a bucket truck, we will utilize our crane or climb it. Our crew members have years of experience climbing trees and are highly skilled at it. They are constantly learning and implementing new techniques according to industry standards.

  • Do I need to have the stump ground out and what will it look like when it is done?

The service of stump grinding is always optional; however, doing so can help approve the appearance of a yard or landscaping. Typically, stumps are ground approximately 6-10 inches below the ground and will leave behind a mound of heavy stump chips. We can smooth out the pile or haul away the stump chips.

  • What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all forms of payment, including, cash, check, and credit card. We do not require payment upfront and you should be cautious of tree services that do.

  • What should I look for when hiring a tree service?

You should hire a tree service with an ISA Certified Arborist. Proper tree care requires the experience and techniques of an expert. It demands extensive knowledge of not only tree biology, but safety practices when it comes to work on those trees. Hiring a Certified Arborist ensures that your trees are trimmed or removed safely according to industry standards.  TREES BY JAKE maintains multiple ISA Certified Arborists and Certified Treecare Safety Professionals on staff.  Jake is also ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualified (TRAQ).  If the tree is near electrical lines, homeowners should make sure that the tree company they hire is certified to work around such a hazard as many are not.  The tree service should be fully insured for both liability and workers’ compensation. A Certificate of Insurance should come directly from an agent to verify that the policy is currently in place. We are always happy to provide a Certificate upon request. All estimates should be in writing. TREES BY JAKE will always provide the client with a written estimate to ensure client satisfaction. Another way to vet a tree service is to read their reviews.

  • What types of trees do you work on?

TREES BY JAKE works on all types of trees, shrubs, and flowering trees, including, but not limited to, oaks, pecans, hackberries, sycamores, maples, walnuts, Bradford pears, evergreens, eastern redbud, cedars, and crepe myrtles.  As ISA Certified Arborists, we also specialize in the pruning of ornamental trees, including, but not limited to, dogwoods, redbuds, and Japanese maples.  Some trees are much more susceptible to breakage and/or damage and our arborists can provide recommendations, including specific types of pruning and/or cabling to help provide structural integrity.

  • Who is responsible when a tree falls?

If a neighbor’s tree falls on your property, as a general rule, each homeowner is responsible for the part of the tree that fell onto their property, regardless of who the tree belongs to.  Depending on the extent of the damage, if any, and the specifics of the insurance policy, coverage may or may not apply.

  • What is a tree emergency?

A tree emergency is when a tree presents a dangerous or hazardous situation because its structural integrity has been compromised, usually due to neglect or weather/storms.  Trees in this situation will very likely lead to property damage or have already fallen and caused damage.  Trees in these situations should be considered dangerous and people and animals should be kept a safe distance from the tree.

  • Do you provide emergency tree service?

TREES BY JAKE provides emergency tree service.  In fact, our emergency response system allows us to dispatch crews and equipment, including cranes, immediately after receiving a call, though response time may vary depending on the level of danger present and various other factors.  TREES BY JAKE can also work with your insurance carrier directly.

  • When should trees be trimmed?

Most trees can be trimmed at any time of the year as long as proper pruning techniques are used.  You should hire a company with an ISA Certified Arborist to ensure that work is done in accordance with ANSI A300 (industry pruning standards).  In some cases, it may be best to prune when the tree is dormant.
